Altercation leaves one man dead

On December 30, 2016 at approximately 2:49 am, Kamloops RCMP received a complaint of a fight near the 400 block of Tranquille Road in Kamloops. Initial reports indicated that a fight in progress left a lone male unconscious on the ground. Police and ambulance responded where a 42 year old male was located and medical treatment was administered. Unfortunately, the male had succumbed to his injuries while on scene.

The investigation into the man's death is now being led by the Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime Unit. Information that has been gathered to date, indicate that this event appears to have stemmed from an argument between two individuals who became acquainted possibly that night at a local pub.

"RCMP investigators do not believe there is an outstanding safety concern for the general public. Investigators are in the process of determining exactly what happened." stated Cpl Jody Neuls.

The Kamloops Serious Crime unit is actively gathering all relevant evidence and ask if you witnessed this event or have knowledge about it please contact the local police or Crimestoppers.
