Fatal collision on the North Shore

Police are investigating a Saturday motor-vehicle collision that sadly claimed the life of one person.

On Aug. 19, 2023, around 9:45 p.m., an off-duty police officer was travelling northbound on 8th Street when she observed a collision scene involving a northbound motorcycle and a southbound pickup truck at the intersection of Richmond Avenue. A retired paramedic was also present and attended to the motorcyclist, who was confirmed deceased shortly after.

The driver of the truck was located nearby and did not appear to receive any serious injuries. He was cooperative with the investigation.

Traffic was diverted while emergency responders attended.

Frontline officers, the Kamloops RCMP Traffic Unit, and a collision reconstructionist have been involved in the investigation, which is well underway and progressing, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.
