Valleyview aggravated assault: police investigating

A man is in hospital, and another is in custody, after police were called to a Valleyview motel last night for a report of a stabbing.

On Thursday Sept., 28, 2023, around 8:20 p.m. police responded to an address on the 1800-block of the East Trans Canada Highway, where they located a man in his 30s suffering from serious injuries.

Within moments of arriving at the scene, frontline officers had provided emergency first-aid to the victim, and quickly located and arrested a suspect, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson. The victim was transported to hospital by ambulance and is in stable condition. The suspect, a man in his 20s, was taken into custody without issue, to be held for a bail hearing. Both parties were known to each other.

Numerous police officers attended the area last night in response to the report. This morning, a reduced presence remains as part of the ongoing investigation.
