Fire in Valleyview under investigation

Kamloops police and fire officials are investigating an early Monday morning fire at a business on the East Trans Canada Highway.

On Oct. 2, 2023, around 4:40 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to the location on the 1900-block of the highway in Valleyview, where firefighters were in the process of extinguishing fully involved flames on two boats. A third boat was also damaged.

It’s still early in the investigation, but the fire is being treated as suspicious by fire investigators, who will be working with police to help determine what transpired, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.
