The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 340 calls for service from Friday Feb. 10, to 9 a.m. on Feb. 13, 2023. Below are some highlights from those reports.

Assault investigation

2023-4894

Police are investigating an alleged assault of two people near Renfrew Lane Friday afternoon.

On Feb. 10, 2023 around 5:10 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to a field near Renfrew Avenue and Renfrew Lane to assist ambulance with two people who were reported as injured by weapons. On scene, police located a group of youths and young adults, many intoxicated, and determined that two males appeared to have been assaulted by three others. The use of weapons was unsubstantiated.

During police attendance, officers also located an intoxicated woman lying in a field. She was arrested for public intoxication and taken to cells, where she was assessed by ambulance and lodged to sober up safely.

Mischief to vehicles

A man fighting with vehicles on Battle Street spent Sunday morning sobering up in cells.

On Feb. 12, 2023, around 8:15 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers received a report of a person yelling and kicking vehicles parked on the street. Police located a man who appeared to be under the influence of drugs and arrested him for mischief.

He was lodged in cells to sober up safely and prevent continuation of the offence. A small amount of suspected meth located on him was returned and he was provided with a Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions resource card upon his release. No charges are being considered at this time.

Suspicious person report

Kamloops RCMP frontline officers and the Police Dog Service Unit attended the North Shore Sunday night for a suspicious occurrence.

On Feb. 12, 2023 just before 11 p.m., police received a report of a man knocking on a door on the 600-block of Brentwood Avenue, claiming that someone was shooting at him. The man was described as bald, 5’10, skinny, dressed in black, and having a bruise or contusion on his forehead.

Multiple officers attended the area, but did not locate the suspicious person. Anyone with information related to this report is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-5128.

Public mischief

2023-5134

A man was arrested and provided a court date after calling 911 more than 20 times while intoxicated.

On the evening of Feb. 12, 2023, police began receiving reports from 911 about the man’s repeated and belligerent calls, which were interfering with service. Officers spoke with the man, who continued his behaviour with police by phoning multiple times.

Police attended the man’s residence, arrested him for public mischief, and lodged him in cells. Once sober, he was released with a court date and conditions.
