File # PSA Stuff the Cruiser
The Kamloops RCMP Crime Prevention Unit is hoping to drive home holiday cheer next weekend during its annual Stuff the Cruiser toy drive.
On Saturday Dec. 2, 2023, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Kamloops RCMP officers and volunteers will return to Toys R Us at 500 Notre Dame Drive to spread holiday well wishes while collecting unwrapped gifts and cash donations for kids and youth. Items received will be stuffed into police vehicles, then delivered to Christmas Amalgamated, which will distribute them to those in need throughout the city.
We have always been impressed by the generosity of our residents and local businesses in supporting our annual Stuff the Cruiser toy drive,
said Corporal Dana Napier of the Crime Prevention Unit. Last year’s event at the Real Canadian Superstore resulted in an estimated $5,000 worth of donated merchandise to help make the holidays a little cheerier for those able to donate, and for those who received a gift because of that support.
This year, the Kamloops Crime Prevention Unit is again asking people to search their hearts and help in any way they can.
It’s a great way to give back to the community, to the people who are in need this holiday season, and show that partnership between the public and police,
said Sandro Piroddi, coordinator of the Kamloops RCMP Crime Prevention Unit. Christmas Amalgamated is always very excited and ecstatic for the great gifts received, and the volunteers always get great thanks from the public for taking part in this event.
Along with collecting donations for a great cause, the event also serves as an opportunity for the public to get to know some of its community police partners and work together to spread holiday cheer.
Those who would like to contribute but are unable to attend the event, can drop unwrapped donations off at the North Shore Community Policing Office, 915 7th St., from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed from noon to 1 p.m. For more information, call 250-376-5099.
