Police investigating early morning assault, theft

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is looking for video and witnesses following an early morning report of a break-in and weapon’s assault.
On Nov. 7, 2022, around 5:45 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended the 1300-block of Pine Crescent where a person observed fresh footprints leading to a home under construction.
The property owner followed the footsteps and located a man inside the residential property,
said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. According to the report, a struggle occurred, followed by a brief chase, during which the suspect allegedly struck the victim in the head with a blunt tool.
The victim received non-life threatening injuries. Tools are believed to have been stolen during the break and enter.
