RCMP and BC Coroners Service continue their investigation into a body located on a Vedder River beach.

On April 14, 2021 at approximately 9 a.m., Chilliwack RCMP responded to a report of a body washed onto a Vedder River beach near Peach Road. Officers on scene located the body of a deceased man.

Police immediately cordoned off the area surrounding the river, Rotary Trail and Peach Road as RCMP General Investigation Section Team (GIST) and BC Coroners Service supported by the Lower Mainland Integrated Forensic Identification Section (IFIS) conducted the primary evidence-gathering phase of their investigations.

The investigation remains in the early stages, says Corporal Mike Rail spokesperson for the UFVRD. Evidence collected to this point of the investigation does not point to any danger to the public.
