Police incident unfolding in Rural Kamloops

Kamloops TK’emlups Rural - A police incident that is currently unfolding on Shuswap Road has been contained to a single residence as officers continue their efforts to negotiate with a distraught male inside the home.

On August 18, 2020 at 9 a.m., Kamloops TK’emlups Rural RCMP was called to a home in the 700-block of Shuswap Road for reports of a disturbance inside the residence. A number of individuals have been able to safely exit the home.

Front line officers have established a perimeter around the home as police continue their efforts to make contact, communicate and negotiate with the man. The BC RCMP Southeast District Emergency Response Team along with specially trained crisis negotiators, have been called to the scene to assist.

RCMP is asking the general public to avoid the area until such time the situation is resolved.
