Update - Rural Kamloops police incident ends peacefully

The police incident on Shuswap Road has now ended peacefully, with the apprehension of the distraught man at the scene.

A short time before 1:00 p.m., the individual was apprehended by RCMP at the scene, states Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, spokesperson for the BC RCMP Southeast District.
Following negotiations with the man, and the police tactics used, he presented himself peacefully at the front door of the home where he was safely taken into custody with the support of the Southeast District Emergency Response Team.
The suspect has now been identified by police as a 29-year-old Kamloops man. He remains in police custody at this time and faces a number of potential criminal charges connected to this morning’s incident.
