File # 2021-45

A quick response from Kamloops RCMP prevented a stolen firearm from finding its way into the community.

On January 1, 2021, around 1 p.m., Kamloops RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter in progress at a business on the 1400-block of Hillside Drive. As frontline officers responded, updates provided them with a suspect description and information that a firearm may have been stolen, increasing police presence to the area and heightening an ongoing risk assessment.

While en route, a frontline officer saw a man matching the suspect's description near Notre Dame Drive. The man fled as police approached. Backup officers responded and safely arrested the man.

Officers on scene at the break and enter cleared the building with the assistance of the Police Dog Services Unit and General Investigation Section Team. A short time later, a stolen firearm was located in the business's parking lot.

Daniel McClintock, 33, of Kamloops BC, remains in custody and faces one count each of: Break Enter and Steal Firearm, Breach Probation, Possess Firearm while Prohibited, and Mischief. His next court date is January 11, 2021.
