File # 2021-2110

Two people, including a police officer, were assaulted Tuesday after Kamloops RCMP responded to a disturbance call.

On January 19, around 9:30 p.m., Kamloops RCMP received a report of an intoxicated man being aggressive and confrontational with staff and customers at a business on the 900-block of Columbia Street. While police were en route, they were advised the same person had assaulted someone.

Police arrived on scene and attempted to arrest a man matching the description, who resisted and allegedly punched an officer multiple times. He continued to resist as he was apprehended and taken to cells.

The man was held to sober up safely, then released with conditions and a court date.
