Prohibited driving leads to prohibited weapon seizure

A set of brass knuckles were seized after police arrested a man for prohibited driving.

On February 5 around 10:40 p.m., members of the Kamloops RCMP Crime Reduction Unit were patrolling the 1200-block of Salish Road when they observed a man driving who they knew to be prohibited. The man was arrested and during a search, police allegedly located and seized a set of brass knuckles.

The man was released with a court date.

Bear spray, drugs seized during traffic stop

Stopping a speeding vehicle lead police to discovering drugs and bear spray Friday night.

Around 10:10 p.m., on February 5, members of the Kamloops RCMP Crime Reduction Unit observed a white car speeding and crossing the centre line while travelling eastbound on Tranquille Road. Officers stopped the vehicle and saw what looked like a handgun grip in the front passenger seat. The vehicle’s driver was detained.

During a search, police discovered the grip belonged to a paint gun. Bear spray and drugs were also located and seized for destruction.

Suspicious person report leads to warrant arrest

A man wanted in four different RCMP jurisdictions was taken into police custody this weekend.

On February 7, around 5:35 a.m., Kamloops RCMP received a report of a suspicious person on the 3000-block of Valleyview Drive. A man matching the suspect’s description was located nearby.
Police checks revealed the man had warrants in four different jurisdictions: Revelstoke, Nanaimo, North Cowichan Duncan, and Ladysmith.
