Kamloops City

2021-02-13 13:23 PST

File # 2021-4635

Please be advised that a single lane traffic has been opened on Hwy 1 Eastbound, and traffic is flowing again.

On February 12 at approximately 9:15 PM that Kamloops RCMP were called to a single vehicle incident involving a semi truck on Highway 1 Eastbound between Hillside Dr. and Summit Dr. The truck appeared to have lost control and flipped on its side, causing the trailer to tear open and sending debris over approximately 300 m and 4 lanes of traffic. The two (2) occupants of the truck were ejected in the process, but thankfully suffered non-life threatening injuries. They have bene taken to a local medical facility for further assessment.

Highway maintenance are currently on scene completing the clean up. One (1) Eastbound lane of traffic has been open, and the highway is expected to be cleared by 4:00 am.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to have been a factor in this incident. The public is reminded to use caution and appropriate speed for road condition while operating vehicles on the roadway.
