The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 304 calls for service from midnight Friday February 19, to 9 a.m. on Monday February 22, 2021. Below are some highlights from those calls.

Possible abduction report unsubstantiated

A woman was located by police Sunday night and confirmed safe, following a report of a possible abduction earlier in the week.

On February 18, around 5:40 p.m., Kamloops RCMP received a report of a woman screaming and being thrown into a white truck near Tranquille Road and Mackenzie Avenue. Multiple frontline officers attended the area and conducted patrols. During their investigation, police were able to obtain the name of the possible victim and confirm she had been seen by her peers since the initial call.

Police continued to look for the woman to confirm her wellbeing. She was located by an officer around 2 a.m. February 21. The woman confirmed she was the person involved in the report, but stated no abduction occurred; someone had been trying to steal from her. She would not provide any further information.
 

Woman arrested on unendorsed warrant

Kamloops RCMP located and arrested a woman who was wanted for allegedly failing to comply with a probation order.

On Saturday February 19, around 3 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers received a report that a woman wanted on an unendorsed warrant was at an address on the 200-block of Victoria Street West.

Michelle GAUTHIER, 40, of Kamloops, was located by police, arrested and held for a bail hearing. She was released with a March court date.

Man arrested on three warrants

A vehicle with a missing a license plate led police to a wanted man on Saturday night.

On February 20, around midnight, Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were conducting patrols when they came across a car with no rear license plate. Police initiated a traffic stop and discovered the driver was wanted on numerous warrants.

Scott Stewart, 36, of Kamloops was arrested and held for court, during which he received a release order and court date for later this week.

Woman arrested twice this weekend, faces potential charges

A Kamloops woman was arrested for mischief, then later for assault, after police received numerous calls about her this weekend.

On February 19, around 10 p.m., Kamloops RCMP received a report of a disturbance involving yelling on Sicamore Drive. Frontline officers attended, spoke with those present, and left, but were called back to a residence soon after for more reports of a woman screaming and throwing things. Police arrested a woman and lodged her in cells to sober up safely.

On Sunday February 21, around 11:30 a.m., police were called to the 300-block of Columbia Street where a security guard was allegedly punched multiple times by a woman, who then drove away in a vehicle. Police received a description, located the vehicle, and arrested the driver shortly after. While being transported to cells, the woman allegedly became combative, damaging equipment in the police vehicle and kicking a police officer in the head; the officer was uninjured.

The investigation is ongoing and charges may be recommended once it is completed.
