File # 22-13600/13603/13839/13840

A man was arrested and a stolen bike recovered, following a string of break and enter reports on Chestnut Avenue last week.

On April 26, 2022, police were called to the first break in around 10:20 p.m., on the 100-block of Chestnut Avenue, where a resident interrupted a man breaking into his backyard shed. An altercation occurred which left the resident with minor injuries. Officers contained the surrounding area while the Police Dog Service Unit looked for a suspect, but no one was located.

Shortly after, around 11:40 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to the 300-block of Chestnut Avenue for a break and enter in progress.

Police located and arrested a man inside of a shed who matched the description of the earlier suspect, said Constable Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. A number of items were seized as part of the investigation, including a bike, suspected to be stolen.

The man was lodged in cells and later released with conditions and a court date.

On April 28, police were notified of another April 26 break and enter from the 200-block of Chestnut Avenue, during which a suspect was captured on video – the same one who was arrested by police on April 26. That same day, officers received a report of a stolen bike, taken from the 600-block of Belmont Crescent during a shed break in on April 26. The bike was the same one seized earlier by police and was returned to its owner.

Anyone who witnessed, has surveillance, or other information which could be helpful to these investigations is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-13603.
