The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 390 calls for service from midnight Friday May 6, to 9 a.m. on Monday May 9, 2022. Below are some highlights from those reports.

Robbery downtown

A man is in custody following a report of an armed robbery in Sahali Friday afternoon.

On May 6, 2022, around 2:40 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended the 1200-block of Summit Drive after a man allegedly asked someone for money, then produced a weapon. A suspect description was provided and police located a man matching it nearby.

Kenneth Seymour, 32, of Kamloops, is charged with one count of robbery. He was remanded into custody until his next court appearance, May 16.

Unwanted report leads to warrant execution

A trespassing investigation led to police capturing a wanted person.

On May 7, 2022, frontline officers were called to the 1000-block of Columbia Street West for a report of a man inside a retail store who had been banned. As part of their investigation, police located and arrested a man wanted on unendorsed warrants for theft and failure to comply with a probation order.

Dustin Joel Poudrier, 34, of Kamloops, was held in custody for a bail hearing, during which he received a release order and new court date.

Man held in custody for warrants

A brief foot pursuit ended with police locating a man wanted on warrants, following what began as a stolen property investigation.

On May 8, 2022, just before 5 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were on patrol in the area of Seymour Street and 6th Avenue when they observed a man riding an e-bike that looked like one recently reported stolen. The man allegedly fled, prompting more officers to respond.

During the investigation, police located a man who was wanted on two unendorsed warrants for breach of probation and breach of release order. Emmanual Christian Brooks, 30, of Kamloops was remanded in custody until his next scheduled court date, May 18, 2022.

Police seized a stolen e-bike nearby; the investigation into its theft is ongoing.

Assault with a weapon: man in custody

A man is facing numerous charges, following an assault report at McArthur Island this weekend.

On Sunday May 8, 2022, around 11:20 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers received a report of a man on a bike assaulting a woman. While members were en route, a bystander attempted to intervene and the suspect allegedly threatened him with a knife.

When officers located the suspect, he fled and entered the river briefly, before surrendering to police.

A man in his 20s was arrested and charged for offences including assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, obstruct a peace officer, uttering threats, and failure to comply with a release order. The suspect, who is not being named to protect the identity of the victim, was remanded until his next court appearance scheduled for May 19, 2022.

Wanted man captured

A frontline officer was responding to a call on Victoria Street when he located a man wanted on an unendorsed warrant.

On May 8, 2022, around 9 a.m., officers arrested the man wanted on a warrant related to a theft of motor vehicle charge.

Bradley Derek Smith, 44, of Kamloops, was held for court, during which he received a release order and new court date, May 12, 2022.
