File # 2022-24606

A tip from transit police helped Kamloops RCMP officers arrest a man wanted on warrants out of Saskatchewan.

With information provided by the tip, Kamloops RCMP frontline officers continued their investigation and were able to locate the accused at a residence on McGill Road on July 19, 2022.

The Saskatchewan warrants were extended into British Columbia, allowing for Kamloops RCMP officers to arrest the man locally, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. This was a great collaboration between the Kamloops RCMP, transit police, and Saskatchewan law enforcement, that saw a suspect wanted for numerous offences removed from the community.

Christopher Douglas Birkbeck, 50, was remanded in custody to appear in a Saskatchewan court for charges including identity theft, personation with intent, fraud, failure to comply, and others.
