The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 327 calls for service from Friday Nov. 18, to 9 a.m. on Nov. 21, 2022. Below are some highlights from those reports.

Robbery in Sahali

Multiple police officers responded to the 900-block of McGill Road Friday afternoon for a robbery report at a bus stop.

On Nov. 18, 2022, around 1:25 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended the area where a youth was allegedly threatened and robbed of his backpack and phone by two men -- the first described as in his late 30s and wearing red snow pants, the second as having a mask on. The victim was uninjured.

Firearms, ammunition seized

A man was arrested for numerous firearms offences, following a vehicle stop downtown this weekend.

On Saturday Nov. 19, 2022, around 3:50 a.m., a Kamloops RCMP frontline officer conducted a vehicle stop at 3rd Avenue and Seymour Street. The officer observed contraband tobacco and detained the driver under the Tobacco Act. As part of the investigation, suspected illegal drugs, a loaded firearm, and ammunition were also located.

The suspect was released with conditions and a court date. Charge recommendation is anticipated as part of the approval process.

Robbery on Hillside

Police were called to a commercial business on the 1000-block of Hillside Drive Saturday night for a report involving theft and weapons.

On Nov. 19, 2022, around 9:50 p.m., police attended the store after its staff reported dealing with a suspected theft, during which two suspects allegedly produced a knife and icepick before they fled on foot.

Mischief on Battle Street

A man was arrested following multiple calls to police from residents of an apartment building on Battle Street West early Sunday morning.

On Nov. 20, 2022, around 2:25 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to reports of a man who had pulled the fire alarm and was running around inside, claiming people were trying to kill him. Police located and arrested a suspect, who appeared to be under the influence of drugs. His claims were unsubstantiated.

The man was lodged in cells to sober up safely and prevent continuation of the offence. He was later released without process.

Man arrested following two assault reports

A Kamloops man has a date in court, following two assault investigations on Sunday.

On Nov. 20, 2022, around 11 a.m., police were called to an assault report on the 100-block of Victoria Street West. A woman was transported to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. Surveillance footage revealed a suspect, who was located and arrested a couple of hours later, then released with a court date and conditions.

Around 3 p.m., frontline officers responded to a commercial location on the 1000-block of Columbia Street West. There, a man had allegedly assaulted two people, then fled. He was located by police a short time later, arrested, and lodged in cells.

The suspect was later released on conditions and a court date, with charge recommendations anticipated following the conclusion of the investigations.

Break in on Pearson Place

Police are investigating after keys, laptops, and computer monitors were stolen from a commercial location on the 1400-block of Pearson Place early Monday morning.

On Nov. 21, 2022, around 2 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to the report of a break and enter where they observed damage to the front door. The Police Dog Service Unit attended and assisted in searching for a suspect, but no one was located.
