The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 339 calls for service from Friday Feb.9, to 9 a.m. on Monday Feb. 12, 2024. Below are some highlights from those reports.

Firearms seized, warrant executed

Responding to a report of a potential break-in led police officers to guns, ammo, and a woman wanted on an arrest warrant. On Friday Feb. 9, 2024, around 11:05 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to the 700-block of McGill Road for a report of two people suspected to be breaking into a residence from its balcony.

Multiple police officers attended, and after knocking for a period of time, breached the doorway. Inside, they located a woman wanted on an arrest warrant, two insecure firearms and ammo, and a resident of the address.

The resident was released, the firearms and ammo were seized, and the woman was taken into custody as per her warrants.

Break-in on St. Paul Street

Police are looking for video and information related to a break and enter at a downtown residence on Friday.

On Feb. 9, 2024, around 11 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to the 600-block of St. Paul Street, where a break-in had occurred between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. Jewelry, cash, and designer bags and clothing were included in the items stolen.

Impaired driver, vehicle collision

A driver has lost their licence for 90-days following a crash on Hwy 5A Saturday afternoon.

On Feb. 10, 2024, around 4:25 p.m., Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP frontline officers and ambulance responded to a report of a red pickup truck turned onto its roof in the ditch near Campbell Creek Road. Two people were located inside with no obvious injuries. As part of the investigation, a roadside breath test was administered to the driver, which registered a fail reading, indicating a blood-alcohol content exceeding .08.

The vehicle was impounded for 30 days and the driver was issued a 90-day prohibition under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Smash-and-grab on Seymour

Items including Ipads were stolen during a break-in at a Seymour Street business this weekend.

On Saturday Feb. 10, 2024, around 11:45 p.m., police were called to the 200-block of Seymour Street where a suspect smashed a glass door, quickly grab some items inside, and left eastbound on foot, through the parking lot.

Man arrested following violent outburst

Police responding to a report of an assaultive man had to use a conductive energy device outside of a health care facility this weekend.

On Feb. 10, 2024, around 12:20 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to Southhill Street, where a man was allegedly assaulting staff. Upon police attendance, the man jumped on the hood of a police cruiser and began striking the vehicle. The officer exited his vehicle and advised the man he was under arrest. The man charged at the police officer, who was able to effectively deploy a conductive energy device and safely take him into custody.

The man was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and taken to the hospital for assessment and care.

Downtown business break-in

A downtown business had thousands of dollars in merchandise stolen during a break and enter this weekend.

On Feb. 11, 2024, around 8:10 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of the break-in on the 200-block of Victoria Street, where thieves made entry around 3:30 a.m. and stole clothing and other items.
