RCMP report theft from residential properties on the rise

2020-08-11 10:04 PDT

Over the last two weeks the Castlegar RCMP has received an increase in reported thefts of property from residential properties. These thefts have been occurring throughout the daytime and into the later evening, primarily occurring in each the central and north Castlegar area.

The suspect or suspects appear to be targeting property left outside, or property from unlocked sheds and garages, stealing power tools and other possessions.

For some of the reported incidents, surveillance footage has been reviewed by investigators which shows a thin, middle age man, believed to be travelling on foot entering yards.

Castlegar RCMP is asking residents to ensure tools and other equipment are stored indoors, and that sheds and garages are locked. If citizens observe a suspicious person in their, or their neighbours yard, please contact the Castlegar RCMP at (250) 365-7721.
