Soft shoulders:

A possible MVI was reported to the Kitimat RCMP detachment on January 12th. It was reported a vehicle had gone off the road on Highway 37, north of Kitimat. Officers attended the area and located the vehicle. It was found the driver had pulled to the side of the road, in a safe place to attend to a phone call. Unfortunately, the highway shoulder was soft and the vehicle became stuck. Another motorist assisted in pulling the vehicle out. There was no damage and no injuries.

Drunk in Public:

A report of a person intoxicated in public was received by the Kitimat RCMP on January 13th, 2023. A Kitimat RCMP officer attended the 200 block of City Center, and located the person who was confirmed to be intoxicated. They were lodged into cells until sober. When released, the person received a violation ticket for possessing liquor in an open container in a public place.

Impaired by drugs:

While making routine patrols on Highway 37 on January 15th, 2023, a Kitimat RCMP officer conducted a traffic stop. An impaired by drugs investigation was initiated. It was found the driver had consumed drugs prior to driving. The driver was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded.

Traffic control for vehicle break down:

During the evening of January 17th, 2023, a Kitimat RCMP officer came across a vehicle in a precarious position on Haisla Blvd. The vehicle had been south bound when it appeared to have suffered a mechanical breakdown, blocking the south bound lane. Two officers assisted by providing traffic control until the vehicle was able to be removed by a tow truck.
