By-law noise:

On May 18th, the Kitimat RCMP received a by-law noise complaint regarding loud music coming from a residence. An officer attended and spoke to the subject of complaint who was advised of the District of Kitimat by-law and turned down the music. (2023-1727)

Intoxicated in public:

During the afternoon hours of May 19th, 2023, the Kitimat RCMP were advised of a male that appeared to be intoxicated walking along Loganberry St, in Kitimat BC. The RCMP officer responding located the male and provided him a ride home. However, shortly after, the male was again causing a disturbance by being intoxicated in public. As a result, the male was arrested and lodged into the Kitimat RCMP cells and released without charge once sober. (2023-1746)

No Drivers license:

An investigation regarding a traffic complaint received by the Kitimat RCMP on May 19th, 2023 resulted in the driver being issued a violation ticket for no drivers license. It was reported a vehicle was being driven in an erratic fashion on Lahakas Blvd in Kitimat BC. Once the vehicle was located, the driver was unable to provide a valid drivers license, as one had never been issued. A warning was also given for driving without due care and attention. (2023-1749)

Impaired driver:

While on routine patrol in downtown Kitimat, during the evening of May 19th, 2023, a vehicle was checked by a Kitimat RCMP officer. It was found that the driver had consumed alcohol. Breath samples were provided, which resulted in the driver being issued a three-day immediate driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for three days. (2023-1752)

Drug impaired driver:

While conducting a check stop on Haisla Blvd, in Kitimat BC during the late evening hours of May 20th, 2023, a driver was found to have consumed drugs before driving their vehicle. A roadside sobriety test was provided to the driver during the investigation. The driver was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition. (2023-1781)

90 day driving prohibition:

While on patrol during the early morning hours of May 21st, 2023, the manner a vehicle was being operated in the downtown area of Kitimat BC caught the attention of a Kitimat RCMP officer. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation into the impaired operation of the vehicle was started. The driver provided a breath sample into a roadside screening device which resulted in the driver being issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition. The vehicle was also impounded for 30 days. (2023-1784)

False alarm:

On May 23rd, 2023, the Kitimat RCMP were advised of a panic alarm activation at a business located on the 100 block of Nechako Avenue, in Kitimat BC. Kitimat RCMP officers responded and were able to verify that the alarm activation was accidently set off. (2023-1803)

Single vehicle rollover:

The Kitimat RCMP received a report of a single vehicle collision along Dyke road, in Kitimat BC on May 24th, 2023. While doing some cleaning in the area, the complainant had located an unoccupied rolled over vehicle. The RCMP officer was able to locate the registered owner who advised the incident had occurred overnight, and there were no injuries. The investigation is still ongoing. (2023-1819)

Scooter confusion:

A report of a mobility scooter impeding traffic on Haisla Blvd was reported to the Kitimat RCMP on May 24th, 2023. The scooter was travelling on the highway, at a slow speed, causing traffic to travel in the oncoming lane to provide room while passing the scooter. The Kitimat RCMP officers were able to locate the scooter and driver. The driver was educated on the safe usage of the scooter, including staying away from traffic and using sidewalks appropriately.

Motorcycle collision:

A motorcycle rider was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries after colliding with a garden fence at a residence in Kitimat BC, on May 24th. The Kitimat RCMP officer attended the scene and found no damage to the residence, other then a garden fence being knocked over. Speed and alcohol have been ruled out as factors in the collision. Construction zone reminder:

The Kitimat RCMP would like to remind drivers of the construction zone along Hailsa Blvd between Kuldo Blvd and 4th street. With the ongoing bridge replacement, the speed limit in that area is 30 Km/h and its imperative that vehicles are traveling that speed to ensure the safety of the construction workers and pedestrians. Enhanced patrols will be conducted
