Disturbance leaves one man dead

A local man faces potential charges after a disturbance lead to fatal injuries over the weekend.

On June 18, 2023, the Dawson Creek RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance on the 1500 block of 92 Avenue. Upon attendance, police discovered a man suffering from serious, life threatening injuries and provided medical care until BC Emergency Health Services arrived. The man was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A second man was taken into custody but has since been released pending charge approval. Both men were known to each other and police believe there is no ongoing risk to public safety.

This is a tragic incident that resulted in the death of one man, said Staff Sergeant Rob Hughes, Detachment Commander for the Dawson Creek RCMP. Supports are in place for those who have been impacted by this event, including our officers.

The Dawson Creek RCMP General Investigation Section has conduct of the file, with assistance from E Division Major Crimes. The investigation is ongoing.
