Explosion at motel; arrest made

On February 10th, 2024, at 10:30 p.m., RCMP and emergency crews responded to a report of an explosion which had occurred inside a motel room at the Glenwood Inn, in Trail, BC.

The explosion started a fire in an adjacent room which had to be evacuated.

No one at the scene was found injured.

A search of the room where the explosion occurred uncovered firearms and ammunition.

Officers at the scene located a 48-year-old man nearby, believed to be associated to the room. The man was subsequently arrested and faces numerous firearms offences.

Police are looking for one other suspect in relation to the explosion who is described as a Caucasian male in his 30’s, dark hair, brown eyes, likely has symptoms of burn injuries.

Do not approach any suspected person.

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
