Grand Forks ambulance involved in a single vehicle incident near Rossland, BC

On Friday, June 23, 2023, at 5:15 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer responded to a single motor vehicle incident in the 4300 block of Highway 3B, near Rossland, BC. A 30-year-old Grand Forks man drove an ambulance off the right side of the highway. The man was not injured; however, his passenger, 50-year-old Midway woman, received minor injuries. The two patients being transported in the ambulance did not receive any injuries. There was minor damage to the ambulance as a result of the incident.

The RCMP notified BC EHS about the incident, says Sgt. Wicentowich

Trail RCMP catches and fines prohibited driver

On Friday, June 30, 2023, at 10:30 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer was conducting a routine patrol in a marked police vehicle when she observed a gray 2014 Dodge Caravan without valid insurance travelling eastbound on the Victoria Street Bridge, in Trail, BC. The officer detained the 68-year-old Trail man driving the van and his passenger roadside.

The officer discovered that the man allegedly did not possess a valid BC driver’s licence and was prohibited from driving a motor vehicle in BC. The officer issued the man a driving prohibition and impounded his vehicle for up to 7 days. The 68-year-old Trail man was issued a $276 fine for No Driver’s Licence contrary to Section 24(1) of the BC Motor Vehicle Act and a $598 fine for Drive without Insurance contrary to Section 24(3)(b) of the BC MVA.

On Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 10:04 a.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report of a woman dressed in a hospital gown with an oxygen tube hanging from her nose was walking across the Victoria Street Bridge, in Trail, BC. The officer located the 48-year-old Trail woman in downtown Trail, and gave her a ride back to the hospital.

She did not miss her appointment at the hospital, thanks to our officer., says Sgt. Wicentowich

If you can’t play nice…

On Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 8:45 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a complaint about an incident that occurred on a golf course, in Rossland, BC. A 50-year-old Rossland man and his group were playing on the course when a golf ball sailed over them and landed nearby. In frustration, the man returned wayward golf ball by hitting it back with his club to the group behind him. This incident sparked some upset feelings between the two parties and the man began received angry texts from the group behind him.

The 50-year-old Rossland man contacted an officer who diffused the situation between the groups.

On Sunday, July 2, 2023, at 1:00 a.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer was conducting a routine patrol in a marked police vehicle when he attempted to detain two occupants in a 2019 Ford Transit van for driving erratically and failing to signal speeding in the 700 block of Victoria Street, in Trail, BC. The driver and vehicle allegedly did not stop for the officer and fled.

Trail RCMP continues to investigate the incident and believes driver and passenger have been identified with the assistance of the Nelson RCMP.

Trail RCMP will be requesting criminal charges against the driver for failing to stop his vehicle, says Sgt. Wicentowich
